My Story
Hi, I’m Cam Whitnall, wildlife photographer for Nikon, children’s TV presenter, social media creator and passionate conservationist. I live and work at a zoo and sanctuary in the UK, and I’m proud to serve as Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary. Growing up surrounded by some of the world’s most incredible animals shaped who I am and fueled my commitment to protecting them.
Whether I’m behind the camera, on screen, or out in the field, my mission is the same: to inspire people of all ages, especially younger generations, to care about the natural world. From photography and storytelling to hands-on conservation work, everything I do is guided by that connection to wildlife and a drive to make a real difference.
My photography journey really took off during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when I started capturing the everyday lives of the incredible animals around me. What began as a personal creative outlet quickly grew into something much bigger. I began sharing my work on TikTok, where I now have over a million followers, and over 2 million followers across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. That exposure eventually opened the door for me to become an official Nikon Creator.
Alongside photography, I co-host One Zoo Three, a CBBC children’s series with my brothers Aaron and Tyler. Together, we take viewers behind the scenes of zoo and sanctuary life, share incredible animal stories, and highlight global conservation efforts. The show grew out of our 2019 journey across East Africa, Drive4Wildlife, where we traveled over 2,000 miles delivering funds, equipment, and eventually an animal ambulance to the UWEC team in Uganda. That trip strengthened our shared goal of using media to make a real-world impact for wildlife.
Today, I’m proud to serve as Managing Director of The Big Cat Sanctuary, a centre dedicated to the rescue, welfare, education, conservation, and breeding of some of the planet’s most threatened big and small cats. Recently, we led a rescue mission that brought five African lions out of war-torn Ukraine and into a state-of-the-art habitat at our Lion Rescue Centre. Projects like this are at the heart of our work, combining rescue, care, advocacy, conservation, and education.
Every piece of content I create, from wildlife photographs to social media videos to TV shows, is crafted with one goal in mind: to spark curiosity, build empathy, and drive action. I believe that the first step to protecting our planet is falling in love with it. And I want to help make that happen.
