Cam Whitnall
I still can't quite believe I was there to witness this.
During my time at Segera Retreat in Kenya, I had the incredible privilege of capturing one of nature's most intimate moments - a lioness gently carrying her newborn cub. These are the encounters that remind me why I do what I do. The trust, the tenderness, the raw beauty of the wild unfolding right before my lens.
This wasn't a staged shot or a common sighting. This was a once-in-a-lifetime moment that took patience, respect for these magnificent animals, and being in exactly the right place at the right time. The soft morning light, the mother's careful grip, the vulnerability of new life - everything aligned perfectly.
Shot on my Nikon Z9 with a 400mm f/2.8 lens, I've worked to preserve every detail of this extraordinary moment so you can experience the same awe I felt in that instant. This is more than just a wildlife photograph - it's a window into a world few people get to see, and I'm honoured to share it with you.
